COVID-19 Update 3/19/2020

Pirate Family,

As most of you know by now, the Governor closed school districts for onsite learning through Friday, April 17. This means schools are currently scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 20.  We have a total of 62 cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas and that number is expected to increase over the next few weeks.  The Governor repeated his desire for maximum flexibility during these trying times and I know he is sincere.

Concord Schools sent home a total of 10 AMI days with students. Day 1 began on Tuesday March 17th with day 4 being Friday March 20th. We will continue with day 5 on Monday March 30th and end with day 9 on Friday April 3rd. We are meeting as a leadership team to decide how to proceed with instruction beginning on Monday April 6th through Friday April 17th.

Please understand that we as educators are extremely concerned about the safety and well being of all our students as well as their families, while at the same time staying concerned about your child's educational needs. We are looking into what virtual education will look like with many of our families not having access to a strong WIFI access point due to the signal issues we face in many areas. We want to also follow the Governors order and not have large gatherings in a single location.

We are also working on meal plans for students during the weeks following spring break. Please let your building level administrator know if you foresee the need for meals after the week of spring break. I know most families were able to cover the week we are currently in, but may not have planned for the weeks to follow spring break.

As always I will update our Concord Pirate Family as I can.
